Who am I? I am a leaf in the wind. When I was younger, I enjoyed the mysteries and adventures that life provided. Wherever the wind took me, I freely went. As new experiences and opportunities revealed themselves, I purposefully took hold and made the best of them. My mother has always referred to me as a modern day Pocahontas. The well-remembered native, who loved her people and never lost sight of who she was, let the wind carry her through each new experience in life. Whether there are times of trouble or times of excitement, I have constantly tried to experience every aspect of life I can. For example, if I wanted to eat Oreos for breakfast, I did. If I wanted to take up a new hobby, such as risking my life while rafting down the tumultuous Ocoee River, I took it head on. Sadly, some of these spontaneous experiences were not completely what I expected. Trying sushi for the first time, for instance, was a remembered experience; it was not necessarily a good experience but remembered nonetheless. Like Pocahontas, through all of the memorable moments in life, I have stayed grounded in who I am and what I stand for.
Simply, I am fun-loving girl with a passion for Christ. I have a twin sister and we are each others best friend. Lifeguarding is my job. I am a performer. Last May, I graduated from Holt High School and am proud to be the Class of 2007 Salutatorian. Though each of these simple facts describes me clearly, they do not describe who I AM. I…am a leaf in the wind.
